Process
These are the guidelines and process we use at Auslink Aviation to guide you through your aircraft purchases.
If you are interested in purchasing an aircraft or have any questions please feel free to
1. Evaluate Your Aircraft
Before listing, assess the current market value of your aircraft. Consider factors like age, total flight hours, maintenance history, and any upgrades or modifications.
2. Gather All Documentation
Assemble all pertinent records including logbooks, maintenance records, airworthiness certificates, and any other relevant documentation. This transparency will instil confidence in potential buyers.
3. Aircraft Presentation:
Consider investing in detailing your aircraft – a clean and well-presented plane often sells faster and for a better price. High-quality photographs and even videos can significantly enhance your listing.
4. Listing and Marketing
Decide whether to sell independently or through a broker.
If selling independently, list your aircraft on reputable aviation classified websites, trade magazines, or related platforms. <br>
Aircraft brokers, though they command a commission, bring industry connections, market knowledge, and potential buyers.
5. Communicate with Interested Buyers
Respond to inquiries promptly and provide any additional information or documentation requested.
6. Demo Flights
Interested parties may request a demonstration flight. Ensure your aircraft is in top condition and that all necessary insurances are in place.
7. Negotiation
Be prepared for potential buyers to negotiate on price. Know your lowest acceptable price beforehand, but also be open to reasonable offers.
8. Sales Agreement
Once a price is agreed upon, draft a sales agreement detailing terms and conditions. An aviation attorney can help ensure all legal aspects are addressed.
9. Pre-Purchase Inspection
The buyer might request an independent pre-purchase inspection. This can uncover any undisclosed or unnoticed issues, which might become points of negotiation.
10. Finalising the Sale
Ensure all paperwork is completed, including the bill of sale, any warranties, and transferring the title. The FAA (or equivalent aviation authority in your country) will have specific requirements for the transfer of ownership.
11. Payment
Use secure payment methods. Wire transfers are common in the aviation industry. If accepting checks, ensure they clear before handing over the aircraft.
12. Deliver the Aircraft
Coordinate with the buyer on where and when to hand over the aircraft. Ensure you remove or account for personal items.
